This configuration works best in my experience: Word 2003 and Acrobat Pro 8. Acrobat Pro 8 came bundled with Adobe LiveCycle Designer (ES 8.2), which is the form editing program which handled form creation starting with a Word or other document. Word 2010 does not integrate well with any version of Acrobat other than 'X.' Acrobat 9 is OK but relies on built-in form tools and does not automatically open Live Cycle Designer to create an interactive form.
Have you tried opening Designer and then opening your Word doc through that instead of converting to PDF first? (File > New > Import a Word Document).
It definitely won't work if you print to PDF from Word, as that flattens the document.

I just purchased the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC one year plan for $23.88 in hopes I could export a PDF to Word so that I can search for names in the PDF/converted word doc. I export the PDF file and click convert a box comes up cannot convert 100MB try a smaller file. I have a friend doing the same typ.
